There's a non-science-fiction round-robin that I really enjoyed. The first author was Dave Barry, who as expected introduced all sorts of strange characters and plot lines, as well as giving it the title 'Naked Came the Manatee'.
I imagine that being one of the early writers in this kind of thing is really hard, as you have to resist the temptation to write completely ridiculous things just to mess with the following author. At least, it would be hard for me to resist.
