I must have been the only kid to get the Christian symbolism right off the bat. Huh. I'd read The Hobbit and ElfQuest before I was handed Lewis' books, so maybe my issue was just that I should have read them when I started tackling chapter books when I was six.

Have you read _The Magicians_ by Lev Grossman? It's an interesting homage/reinterpretation of Narnia.
