When we have a day like today, with what is already being described as the Blizzard of 2006, I like to remind people of the history of major snowstorms in Boston and NYC. Here are the lists for those who are interested.

Followup to my previous post: it's been reported that the official snow total for New York City for this storm is 26.9 inches. This is a new record, beating the post-Christmas 1947 storm by half an inch. Congratulations to New York City for their remarkable achievement!

I'm still waiting for the Boston storm to end so I can see where our total ends up..
