Edith Sperber
Oct. 23rd, 2012 12:22 pmI spent part of this morning at the funeral for Edith Sperber.
Edith was one of my colleagues on the Brookline Board of Library Trustees. She was first elected in 2003, the year before I joined the Board, and she chose not to run for re-election this year due to illness.
My favorite memory of Edith was when we shared stories of having overdue library books as kids. Edith had had a book out for so long that a policeman showed up at her door to recover the book. She laughed at how frantically she had searched for the book, afraid she would be taken away to jail.
May her family find comfort at this time.
