Yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] gnomi and I found out that an artist named Rose Marshack is going from city to city and selling Tickets to the Sunset. Presumably, she's arranged for a particular location for the group of ticket buyers to enjoy the celestial event.

However, tonight's Boston showing of the sunset is apparently sold out. Tickets had to be purchased ten days in advance over the Internet, and the article we found was in Thursday's Boston Phoenix, which came out too late for us to buy tickets in time.

So I've emailed the contact at their webpage asking about standby tickets. In the meantime, Nomi and I are considering going somewhere else to enjoy the sunset (although I know it won't be the same if we don't get to pay for it). Any suggestions as to good viewing locations are welcome.

*confused* you are going to pay to watch the sunset? That's it? Is there music involved or something?

Follow the link to http://www.ticketstothesunset.com and read some of the press releases. Marshack's selling of tickets to the sunset is a form of performance art.

I'm sorry, but to me this is the sort of thing that gives performance art a bad name.

Nice place to watch the sunset

From the river, or one of the bridges over it.

I missed yesterday's rehearsal, but I did catch the star and some supporting cast warming up at the east horizon this morning. Fabulous stuff. It should be a good show; good luck getting in.

I can't imagine anyone paying for that, but I guess I'm not the intended audience...
