Last year in this post, I copied the list of hurricane names for 2004 from http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/aboutnames.shtml.

Who I am to break a tradition, especially since hurricane season has already started? For 2005, the names of the Atlantic tropical storms will run down this list:

Arlene
Bret
Cindy
Dennis
Emily
Franklin
Gert
Harvey
Irene
Jose
Katrina
Lee
Maria
Nate
Ophelia
Philippe
Rita
Stan
Tammy
Vince
Wilma

I once again note that the first chance for Hurricane Michael will be in 2006.

I like Hurrican Ophelia. It's going to blow around tossing flowers until it finally drowns itself in the river.

Totally unrelated, but I wanted to ask you a writing type question. In your opinion as a published person, should I focus on finding an agency to represent me, or just try to submit my manuscript to the few publishers who accept them? I keep dithering about this, and I think I need to get moving, if I want my book published before I'm 40.

Thanks.

Maybe I should create a post in which people can ask writing questions... :-)

I'd say do both. Send out a stack of query letters to a list of agents and publishers, and field the responses. If a publisher expresses interest in a book, that makes it easier to get an agent; and if an agent likes your book, then you end up with an advocate right away.

They are saying that this year they believe they will reach either Hurricane or Tropical Storm Maria.

Will there ever be a hurricane Oprah?

Oprah doesn't appear on any of the lists that I've found.

Hurricaine Harvey

One wonders if it will be six feet tall, and most people will think it imaginary.

"Lisa" gets used in 2010. Of course, since it's not my real name, I'll get another chance some other time, too. (And the names recycle if the storm does no damage, but here's hoping...)

There's something wrong with the concept of a Hurricaine Nana hitting Florida...

Merely an astonishing coincidence. :-)
