Just a quick update. I haven't had much time to write more about the NYC trip, but I will as soon as I can. In the meantime, [livejournal.com profile] gnomi returns home tomorrow while I stay here for another week to clean the house. I've already found a copy of Firestorm #1 (1978) autographed by Al Milgrom, one of the creators of the character; who knows what else will turn up?

Wow! I was and to some degree still am a big (original) Firestorm fan.

Somewhere in the house I have an entire run of the original Firestorm series. (Well, of both -- the one that was cancelled after only a few issues, and the second one, Fury of Firestorm, which changed its name to Firestorm in the middle and lasted for 100 issues.) I hope I can find it.

It appeared in the '70s as part of the DC Explosion, then disappeared with a bunch of titles in the DC Implosion.

But it was pretty good at first when it came back the second time. Cary Bates was writing it, wasn't he? I remember at the time that he had written of the best origins for a villain that I had ever read.

When it came back as The Fury of Firestorm, Gerry Conway was writing it at first. I don't know if Cary Bates took over later.

Somewhere in this house I have the entire run; I just have to find it...
