Joy in Commuting
Apr. 26th, 2006 08:05 amThis morning, I arrived at the Green Line C Summit Ave. T stop just a little late. A train had already pulled into the stop, and while I was still across Beacon St. the doors were open and the train was loading.
I got across the street just as the doors closed. Knowing that the driver would have to pull the train out, rather than bound across the tracks I waited for her to pull out the train.
And then she saw me, reopened the doors, and gestured for me to board the train.
I sprinted across the tracks, thanked her very much, and then found a comfortable spot among the crowd.
When we got to Copley Square, I made a point of thanking her again for picking me up when she didn't have to. And now I'm thanking her publicly. She made my day start a little nicer; I certainly hope her day is nice in return.
