Tonight begins the Annual Brookline Town Meeting, the one at which we vote the budget for the next fiscal year. The budget is Article 7, and I strongly suspect that when we go home tonight we'll still be in the middle of debating it.

Because I'm probably going to be up late for the next few nights, you probably won't see much of me here for the rest of the week. However, I do like to blog about what happens at Town Meeting, so if I have a chance, I'll do so this week.

The Combined Reports, which includes the articles in the warrant, the reports of both the Board of Selectmen and the Advisory Committee, and all the supplemental amendments that have been sent out beforehand, can be found at http://www.townofbrooklinemass.com/TMM/warrants/CombinedReports052306.html.

Interesting issues that we'll be debating include the Community Preservation Act (CPA), naming an athletic field for Bob Kraft (the owner of the Patriots), mandatory training for town officials, mandatory evening meetings for town committees, the focused residence picketing ban...

...and whether or not to impeach President George W. Bush.

So you probably think that my amendment doesn't go far enough?
