Wow. Great for Brandon! I was expecting someone more established, or already connected to Jordan, but this could be Tor's bid to put Sanderson and his original work on the bestseller landscape for the next decade or two to come.

He seems a logical choice to me.

I personally never read the Wheel of Time books, but I have friends who love them, and one can't deny the impact they have had on the field.

From what I know of Sanderson's work, and of his own love of the Wheel of Time series, I do think this is a good thing, yes.

In one of those "small world" coincidences, I just found out that Sanderson was Ken Jennings' (of Jeopardy! fame) college roommate (http://ken-jennings.com/blog/?p=662).
