mabfan | Quick Update: Holidays, Party, Project, and the Brookline TAB

Nomi and I have been very busy this month for a few reasons:

• The Jewish holidays, of course. They take up a lot of time, and will continue to do so for the next two weeks.

• The publication party. We've got the room and the food, but there are still a few other details to be worked out.

• A project that we're working on. More details later, but suffice it to say it's another time sink weighing on our minds.

So I apologize for the lack of real conversation here. I have a backlog of topics to discuss, and I will as soon as I can.

In the meanwhile, the I Remember the Future publicity machine proceeds apace. Yesterday, the Brookline TAB ran a profile of me under the title Brookline writer imagines a 'future':

You can’t judge a story by its genre.

Since 1995, Brookline’s Michael Burstein has been writing short stories, which include one about the last Holocaust survivor and another that explores the roots of violence at schools.

And yet, once people find out that the stories fall into the genre of science fiction, Burstein’s work is suddenly cast as just another epic tale about spaceships and aliens flying around the galaxy a long time ago and far, far away....
