Well, the Brookline TAB picked up the story in their blog at Burstein '08!, so I guess I'm an official write-in candidate for President.

Help me put together my administration! I need a Vice-President, and the following cabinet positions also need to be named:

Secretary of State
Secretary of the Treasury
Secretary of Defense
Attorney General
Secretary of the Interior
Secretary of Agriculture
Secretary of Commerce
Secretary of Labor
Secretary of Health and Human Services
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development
Secretary of Transportation
Secretary of Energy
Secretary of Education
Secretary of Veterans Affairs
Secretary of Homeland Security

I also need a Chief of Staff and a Science Advisor.

My platform places the space program among the highest of my priorities.

And remember: today Brookline Town Meeting, tomorrow the world!

(Blog post fades away to the theme music from The West Wing)

I think you should fill all the posts with Science Fiction writers. *g*

Preferrably living ones.

I'm not a Science Fiction Writer (unless you count the how to build boffer weapon tutorials on my web site) but I'd apply for the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development position. I have a degree in Architecture.

Hmm....

Secretary of Defense - Elizabeth Moon
Secretary of Energy - Dave Langford (if we can sneak in a Brit) or Catherine Asaro
Science Advisor - Jeff Hecht
Secretary of the Interior - Mike Resnick
Secretary of Education - Harry Turtledove
Secretary of Homeland Security - Stephen King (because the TSA could have been written by him)

Unfortunately, the requirement that the candidate be living excludes Charles Harness for Attorney-General and Edward Whittemore as Secretary of State.

I hereby suggest Jim Macdonald for Secretary of Defense. And if he refuses to serve, then [livejournal.com profile] daytonward.

I hereby volunteer myself for Homeland Security. :)

Well, all right. If you win, I'm willing to accept a post in your Cabinet. My preferences would be Vice President, Secretary of State, or, in a pinch, Secretary of the Treasury.

I love it! And am a fan of the comment saying "If you can remember the future can you change the past?"
Congratulations again on your book news, not to mention your imminent possible presidency!
Thanks too for a little light-hearted fun on this day.

I call ferret czar! (That's how these things get handed out in real life, right? One person "calls" it, and the others either give up or punch the first person in the arm until he says, "Ow! Okay, okay, you can have it.")

I nominate [livejournal.com profile] lucretia_borgia to be Secretary of Defense, or possibly Director of Central Intelligence. She's always wanted to be dictator, and I understand that those positions are the traditional stepping-stones for executing (ahem) a coup.
