Tonight's Nova episode, "The Pluto Files," follows Neil deGrasse Tyson around as he discusses Pluto's status with various people all over the country. I thought that it would be a good time to link people back to my post a year ago, when Nomi and I confronted Dr. Tyson in our role as the main officers of the Society for the Preservation of Pluto as a Planet:

I saw him interviewed on Rachel Maddow last night and he seemed really passionate about astronomy, anxious to share his perspective ("Pluto is no longer the smallest planet in the solar system; it's king of the icy bodies!"), and good-natured about the entire thing. In short, I got a sense that despite his demoting Pluto, he really is One of Us and I found him very smart and funny. I'd love to see tonight's Nova, but I've got a Foolscap PR committee meeting that conflicts, which makes me sad.

I saw him doing the rounds yesterday on Rachel Maddow's show and Jon Stewart, The Daily Show and I kept expecting to see you in some clip. :-)

I missed his talk at the B&N near here a short while back. I would have loved to introduce myself to him as the New York Coordinator of SP3. But, at least now I know why the Hayden never answered any of my requests for speaking engagements on the subject. :)

I'll have to remember to tape Nova tonight. Got a conflict.

I'm guessing his scary "X" fingers didn't send you and Nomi running fleeing into the night. It's kind of like when Richard Benjamin tries to scare off George Hamilton with a Star of David in Love At First Bite.

The kids and I watched it together last night. We all enjoyed it very much, but the kids were wondering why you weren't in it :-)
