I had the same thought:

I think I have waited with some patience till this year to finally see a male hurricane called Alex. The naming process has always seemed odd, with variant spellings, multicultural names, and a long rotation cycle. And I just don't get why we need to name hurricane when we don't name other weather systems.

I'm watiing for theme namings - one year all the names from LotR and so forth - and for Hurricane Carter.
