Briefly Surfacing in the Middle of Passover

Just a note to all and sundry that Nomi and I are in the middle of observing Passover. We were away from the Internet on Tuesday and Wednesday, and we'll be away again next Monday and Tuesday. I'm doing my best to catch up, but it's amazing how quickly the world moves forward even when you take a moment to pause and reflect.

Our seders were good; due to the existence of Muffin and Squeaker, for the first time in our married lives we had the seders at our place as opposed to Nomi's parents' home or some other locale. The first night we had over a friend of Nomi's mother, along with her daughter and mother. The daughter, who is about our age, watches a lot of the same television that we do, so we had a lot to talk about.

For the second night, we had over a close friend who is also a major film critic and may or may not be reading this right now.

Passover is keeping us busy, as is work and my campaign for Brookline Library Trustee. I'm contemplating having some sort of $5 per person fundraiser at our place on a Sunday; people would come over, eat Nomi's cookie bars, see the babies, and contribute five bucks to the campaign. The question is, would people be interested? I shall contemplate.

So much to talk about, and so little time....

I would love the excuse to see the girls and nom Nomi's cookie bars, but Sunday is Easter and I will be spending the day with my family. Sunday is also Anime Boston.

Can I suggest doing something like this next Sunday?

Bah. I mis-read that. The 11th or the 18th would be good Sundays.

I like the 11th, but I may have a campaign event to go to at 4 pm that day. The 18th is late in the fundraising cycle for a May 4th election, but it might be an easier day all around.

So did Muffin or Squeaker have the privilege of doing the Mah Nishtanah this year? And will they alternate seders/years in the future?

Nomi and I did the Four Questions on their behalf. In future years, we may have them do the questions together.

M. has a cousin who is 100 hours older than she is. We usually have the two girls do them in tandem.

A few years back, I learned that the tune for the Mah Nishtanah comes from the 1936 oratorio Chag Ha-Cherut, written by Ephraim Abileah, Elaine's great-granduncle. It gives that part of the seder a nice pesonal touch.
